It is profoundly moving to witness the many people who have come forward to lay flowers in remembrance of His Majesty King Harald V. Each tribute, quietly placed, conveys a deeply personal expression of sorrow, respect and gratitude. Together, they form a remarkable testament to the affection and esteem in which His Majesty has been held by the people of Norway.
The outpouring of public grief reflects the unique place King Harald has occupied in the life of the nation and in the hearts of its people. At a moment of profound sorrow, Norwegians of all generations and from all walks of life have come together in shared remembrance, united in their wish to pay their respects and bid a final farewell.
